Well....

Had a moment of bridalness when looking at pics of the dress I had chosen and decided, hm... not much.

So I have narrowed it down to style, just got to find "the one" if not I have my backup!

Waiting for the stalk....

It is quite an exciting time when one is expecting a new member of the family. There is all the preparation pending the arrival, making sure you have enough supplies and toys and bedding. Then there is preparing the house for the onslaught that the little bundle of joy can deliver, especially when teething takes over and don’t forget the backyard!

I am a huge animal lover, my pets are my babies and my current fur kids are cats. Our new addition, after long last is a puppy, a golden retriever hopefully boy who plan on calling Barney.

He is due weekend of the 29th August with a 8 week period before we can pick him up!!

I can not wait!!
*** Update:
Our boy didn't make it but we have been offered a girl!!

Stupid Perth, Stupid Australia.....

Most of my bits and pieces so far have come America.

Even with the cost of postage and exchange rate, the items that I have managed to find in Australia are still more expensive!! That’s if I even can find them, there are like 3 good Australian sites/shops for wedding related things. It’s ridiculous

Now I am looking for compact mirrors and even ebay is failing me. But wait – look over there, the knot once again kicks ass and has exactly what I want for 0.20c cheaper than the Australian one that is rectangle, not round and has an ugly cartoon on it instead of just the word “Bridesmaid

I think there is a big gap in the wedding market for these kind of things, at a reasonable price. Maybe if there was more competition places like Pink Frosting wouldn’t charge so much and PIOT as fabulous as it is wouldn’t be so complacent when being asked about items they do not have in stock.

The pretties. re:decorating.

I know what theme I want for our wedding, and luckily H2B doesn’t mind what that all is exactly, apart from his one request – not to much pink! I have my wedding planning file and have looked into estimate prices on things so I know how possible or way out of budget things are before I set my heart on having it.

So on the 1st August we had our appointments with some decorators for our ceremony and reception. I would like to say first of all, we have been blessed with our vendors so far. They are all truly lovely people and all come highly recommended. Karen is our ceremony supplier along with her husband. They set up, they take away and what we hire we have use of all day/night so we plan on incorporating a few bits into the reception also, which saves us some money. And I like when that happens. Our appointment with them was at 10 and it was a case of the photographers that our possible short see what we like and book visit turned into a 2 hour stop over. So we really liked those people and have booked them in no problems what so ever. I will add pics of the items we're hiring soon.

Then we went and saw a different lady who I was quite excited to meet with as we had been emailing over the week and things were looking good. We were there for hardly 20mins and in that time all of my “really excited to work with you on this” idea’s and anything that was said was seemingly ignored, she hardly talked and when she did it was mostly negative or ridiculous. How can she say something is rarely done and very expensive (starting from $160+) when I was quoted $40 for the exact same thing? Telling her this she got on her high horse saying I cant believe everything I see online and that quote is extremely wrong – so I corrected her saying the quote was given to me in person at an expo and I had all the info/quote writing in my file. She pretty much snatched it from me, made a humph kind of noise and well we only stayed for about another 10 mins after that.

Going into the wedding planning process and seeing the pics from Abbey on past weddings, I really didn’t want what everyone else had done. They are were all pretty much the same, just different colours for the sash across the table and on the chair. Even the centrepieces were nearly all the same, long vase with flowers in or on. I understand there really is so much you can do without going OTT and spending heaps of $$$ but it was so cookie cutter and repetitive. Seeing this ladies album of examples it all clicked. She is the most highly recommended from all the suppliers. So I’m sure nearly everyone will go to her. Unless you are like me and have my own idea’s etc, you’d probably just go with what she says or suggested and hence fall in the cookie cutting trap!! H2B says I should DIY and then resell on ebay which I am tempted to do but I don’t really want the stress of it all the week before the wedding. But we shall see… there is another company I found on google so I might meet them before I decide I will do it all myself.

One good thing about that lady… the most amazing chandelier – I want it so I may have to end up doing some kind of business with her anyway. But oooh the chandelier!!
