Oh Make Me Over!

I left a message with my makeup people wanting to book in for some prewedding pampering and I could have married the woman on the phone when she started asking me a whole bunch of questions that just seemed to satisfied every inch of almost breakdownish bridal brain.

Girly fun.

Pampering.

Being spoilt with champers and nibblies.

Having the salon closed while I am there to get the undivided attention of the staff and no interruptions or delay

And the kicker…

we like to make sure when our brides leave us, they really feel like the princess they’re suppose to leading up to and on their wedding day and leading up

I have yet to have that truly complete glowing bride moment. I had it on the phone with Vanessa. I think the time before that was when I had people gushing over me in my wedding dress but apart from that, those moments have been few and far between.

Anyway, getting off the phone with V and thinking about it, I have images like the one below, only with Mum, FMIL and Melbourne Lady hahaha as we're booked in for Wednesday before the wedding when we make the trip down south for wedding preperation. I can’t wait. Bring on those champers and that pampering please – I may even get a massage, and I don’t even like them. But hey? Why not?!

Waiting, Waiting, Waiting.....

Week one is good and gone. Week two will soon be at an end.

Only another 6 to go if not less… god forbid more…. Until the bridesmaid dresses arrive and my wedding dress along with them!!

I am so nervously excited, I really wish we had brought off the rack so at least they are all here and I can look at them and touch them and see how they’ve come together. Why did I have to do the custom order online? The waiting is killing me!!!

Just to recap… This is what was ordered for the girls.

On the plus, boys are heading out on the weekend to go look at suits and possible buy/put down rent deposit. So far, for what we are after, the suit H2B and I looked at for the guys was only $129 but the same suit hired was going to cost $280 and then extra’s for shirt and shoe hire to go with it.

Is it only me who sees the irony in this?

Why do they have to make weddings so expensive?! We’ve had a really low budget, trying to stick to 10,000 or under. We’re just tipping $13,000 so not bad at all and hope to pull off an awesome day without looking cheap and leaving guests missing out on things, especially since they’ve all made the effort to make that 2 hour drive down south for us. If I wasn’t having to watch every penny I could easily be one of those brides in the magazines with the cost not given or over $50,000!! Everyone’s day is different, and everyone wants different things out of it and have different budgets but the thought of $50,000 disappearing on one day, cause it is just one day, scares the bageezus out of me. Spending $10,000 is freaking me out.

I think it is an important day, but I also think like many other things, it is a little… over commercialised and it’s so hard not to be sucked in by it all, not helped but the ridiculous mark up put in place for that magical W word.

When I asked the suit lady why such a difference in price for the Suit – especially since to buy it and keep it forever was practically more than half the price than hiring, she didn’t know. She wouldn’t alter the price for group hire for us either. This happened in 3 places. It’s insane.

And this is what we’re looking for with the guys. For some reason the Mr wants a waistcoat. Looks good but… I dunno. This is also CK and we're thinking more along the lines of, Roger David hahaha!!!

Some things are meant to be.

Browsing etsy, as I have a tendancy to do, looking wishfully at wedding items and browsing lettepressed cards I came across something I had been thinking about doing/getting since my Grandad passed and I realised (as some charming family members poited out to be on the day of his passing and funeral assholes) he was no longer going to be with me on my wedding day. Well in person, I am certain he will be there in spirit.

The most ironic well not really but bizare thing is, the items listing name is: Wedding Day Memorial Photo Frame Charm - Premier Series - Jennifer.
And I don't think there is much more of a sign of getting it than that!
